Cystic acne is acne that is deep with under the skin. The exact cause of cystic acne is unknown, but it has been linked to hormones like testosterone. Due to this, men are more likely to suffer from cystic acne than women. However, women often experience flareups of cystic acne around menstruation because there is an increase in testosterone during that period. Energetic shifts in emotion can also cause cystic acne, because emotions have been linked to flareups.
Cystic acne is often genetic, which makes topical treatments like creams and cleansers insufficient to reduce acne symptoms. It most commonly appears on the face, but it also can affect areas such as the neck, back, and chest as well as the shoulders. Cystic acne usually appears in individuals around puberty, since this is when hormones become more aggressive.
Bacterial acne appears on the surface of the skin in the epidermis. This type of acne is caused by bacteria accumulating in the pores. This can be caused by irritation due to skin care products that individuals are using, or it can be caused by an insufficient skin care routine. If your skin is not being cleaned regularly it gives a chance to sit on skin and infiltrate pores.  This leads to inflammation and blocked pores.
Stress is a big factor in bacterial acne and how it affects individuals. Genetics also plays a role, so look out for your parents if they display symptoms of bacterial actually so that you can better know how to treat it. Oily skin as well as health conditions such as pregnancy could also increase the occurrence of bacterial acne.  You should avoid touching your skin with dirty hands as often as possible, as this spreads more bacteria to the face that could lead to blocked pores and bacterial acne.
Foods to Avoid
Foods like sugar and coffee can increase the likelihood of developing cystic acne. These foods should be avoided or consumed sparingly to decrease the symptoms of your acne.
If you enjoy greasy foods, then you should try to cut these out as much as possible to avoid the chance of developing bacterial acne. A healthy diet filled with plenty of fruits and vegetables as well as lots of water daily is the best way to decrease symptoms of both kinds of acne.
